[one_half]516 Altair Place, Venice, California
Occupying a 30′ x 90′ lot west of Abbot Kinney and just blocks from Venice Beach, the house at 516 Altair Place is the second in a series of residential remodels undertaken for Descanso Homes. Keeping the exterior shell largely intact, the project modernizes the existing bungalow with an infusion of light, reclaimed wood cladding, and an open, orderly floor plan. A brand new master suite addition leads onto a private deck and newly landscaped yard at the back. Upstairs, the addition of a full bathroom transforms an existing room into a fully functional guest suite. As at its companion project at 2408 Bryan Ave., 10-19 Architecture provided all architectural as well as landscape design services.
Status – Completed June, 2012
